There is no doubt that Hurricane Irma caused much damage to the state of Florida, and created a tremendous amount of stress, anxiety and concern for its citizens and visitors alike.
We sincerely hope that everyone stayed safe during the storm, and have since been able to get in touch with your loved ones.
Moreover, we owe an enormous debt of gratitude to our devoted team members who worked tirelessly and selflessly to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our residents. The way in which we all came together to prepare for and respond to Hurricane Irma strengthened our team and resident bonds even more so.
Now that the storm has passed, the Terracina Grand family is looking forward to sunny skies ahead! We are happy to have returned to our daily activities as normal. We would like to extend a thank you to all family members, friends and others for checking our updates on the website and Facebook page during the storm, as well as your patience.

The safety and well-being of our residents and employees is our highest priority. We have a comprehensive emergency preparedness plan in place, and are equipped with water, food, permanent or temporary generators, and supplies. Appropriate actions are being taken and will continue to be taken in order to keep everyone safe as we watch the storm closely. Our leadership is in close communication with our management company’s executive leadership team. Directions provided by local and state authorities are being monitored and will be followed as instructed.

From our Executive Director, Kim Te Brugge: Power and phone lines have not yet been restored. We have made contact with the power and phone companies and are waiting for these services to be restored. Keeping residents comfortable and safe is our highest priority.
We have portable generators and A/C units set up around the building to cool areas. Another shipment of portable generators and A/C units arrived yesterday. This morning we received a large FEMA generator that will power our entire building, and our plant operations and maintenance teams are working to make it operable as soon as possible. The two air-conditioned buses remain on-site as a precaution.

Another shipment of portable generators and A/C units will be arriving today by early afternoon. Additional generators are also in transit as a precaution. There are currently two air-conditioned buses on-site as a precaution. The safety and well-being of our residents and employees is our highest priority.

From our Executive Director, Kim Te Brugge: We are taking steps to ensure the comfort and wellbeing of all residents. Two portable generators, as well as additional portable A/C units, ice and water will be arriving at Terracina Grand by early afternoon today. We have had no interruption in our meal service and our kitchens remain fully functional. Social functions are planned, including an ice cream social, donuts and coffee, and happy hour. As we are waiting for power and phone lines to be restored, we thank all families and friends for their patience and understanding.

From our Executive Director, Kim TeBrugge: Currently we do not have any major updates. We are getting along well, just waiting for power. Telephone and data communications are still down, so cell service remains spotty. We appreciate your patience as communications are restored. Everyone is content, and our staff has done an incredible job of proactively assisting all residents.

From our Executive Director, Kim TeBrugge: Residents remain very calm, cooperative and grateful. We are comfortable on the generator, as power is out. Cell service is sporadic. Water service was recently restored. Meals are happening as scheduled, much to the delight of all!

A note from our Executive Director, Kim TeBrugge: Our Maintenance Team has done a terrific job surveying the building this morning. They are reporting roof and water damage. Trees are down around the area. I am pleased to share that all are safe and residents remain in good spirits. Family members are very grateful for the help and support. Some staff are leaving now to check on their own homes.

We are currently experiencing high winds and rain but power remains on. As a precaution, we have moved our fourth floor residents to the third floor. We will move first floor residents to the second floor if needed. We expect the eye of the storm to pass over Naples around 3:15 PM.
